Ayse Asli Basak; Entrepreneur & Innovator in the maritime industry as Co-Founder & CEO of maritime start-up Shipsider which simplifies the complicated structure of maritime commercial operations with smart, modular-AI systems, optimizing operations and providing sustainability. She sailed on cargo ships as Captain over 6 years, passing from all oceans around the world; gaining experience in shore based maritime technical and commercial operations, focused on digitizing the future of maritime operations. Her start-up idea on optimizing maritime commercial operations attracted the world's first Maritime Start-up Venture Studio 3050 in Singapore, selected as 9 Solo-Founders around the world. Previously worked as Port Captain & Shipping Operations Manager in Türkiye after her sailing career on Supramax bulk carrier ships & ashore as Safety Superintendent in Kaptan Steel Group. As a certified Marine Inspector, handled supervision of steel scrap shipments in global ports, managed shipping trade operations in Mid-Ship Group LLC. She is active member of WISTA UK, CILT Türkiye & Executive Board Member of Young Entrepreneurs Council of Turkish Commodity Exchanges Chambers' Union (TOBB). Holds Bachelor Degree in Maritime Transport Engineering, Istanbul Technical University with High Hons, Master’s degree in International Trade & Logistics Management with High Hons as Top of Class. Completed Strategic Management & Innovation Specialization at Copenhagen Business School, conducted different academic researches on shipping finance, ship investment, strategic competitiveness of maritime companies, big data, digitalization & innovation in the shipping industry. As Co-Founder of women seafarers mentoring platform "SheFarers", she was involved in many different board membership positions in maritime associations & federations in Türkiye to empower more women in the maritime industry. Selected in Top 10 Women to Watch in Shipping in Norway in 2019, Young Gender Balanced Leader of the Year by PWN Global in Ireland in the same year.  In 2023, selected as Top 100 Female Founders in Ocean & Energy in 2023 in Norway, also as Winner in 40 Under 40 Professionals List in Belgium. Besides her entrepreneurship journey, she is an advocate for digitalization of maritime commercial operations and empowering women at sea.
